Kosmoy vs Boomi for AI Middleware: Integration vs AI Control (2026)

Boomi connects applications and data and is extending that fabric to agents; Kosmoy governs the AI systems, model/tool traffic and autonomous runtime around those connections.

Alejo HernandezAlejo HernandezCTO, Kosmoy

Boomi belongs in an AI middleware shortlist because its core competency — integrating enterprise applications and data — is exactly the plumbing agents need before they can perform useful work. In 2026 Boomi expanded Agent Designer, governed agent connectivity, MCP and agentic workflow capabilities on top of that integration base.

Kosmoy solves a different middleware problem. It does not recreate Boomi's application connectors or data transformations. It provides the AI-specific control layer around heterogeneous models, agents and MCP servers: inventory, identity/policy, LLM/MCP/A2A mediation, observability, spend control, compliance evidence, evaluation and runtime containment in the customer's Kubernetes.

Who each product is for

Boomi

Boomi fits integration teams that need agents to access enterprise applications, APIs and data through an established iPaaS. Agent Designer and MCP support extend that estate toward agentic workflows without replacing existing integration assets.

Kosmoy

Kosmoy fits teams accountable for AI risk and operations across multiple model providers, agent platforms and business units. It assumes application/data integration already exists and concentrates on AI inventory, runtime policy, observability, compliance and containment.

The capability radar

Boomi's biggest advantage — enterprise integration depth — is not fully represented by the ten AI-control axes, so the radar should not be read as a total-platform ranking. Within those axes Kosmoy leads on Inventory, Gateway, Guardrails, Containment, Compliance and Sovereignty; Boomi's strongest relative area is Agent Building, backed by its integration fabric.

Capability scores, axis by axis
Capability (0–10)BoomiKosmoyNotes on Boomi
AI Inventory & Discovery59Integration/API assets are catalogued well; enterprise-wide independent AI asset discovery is less central.
Security & Shadow AI68Mature integration security and API controls extend into agent connectivity.
Observability & FinOps67Strong operational visibility for integration processes, with emerging agent observability.
Gateway & Policy Control58API control and MCP connectivity mediate enterprise tools; not primarily an LLM routing gateway.
Guardrails & Runtime Safety48Access and integration policy exist, but dedicated in-path AI safety checks are not the core proposition.
Agent Containment29No documented kernel-level sandbox for autonomous agent execution.
Compliance & Audit49Enterprise governance and audit capabilities; less dedicated to AI-framework evidence generation.
Testing, Evals & Red-teaming37Agent design/testing capabilities, not a specialist LLM evaluation platform.
Agent Building76Agent design and workflow automation are meaningful first-class capabilities.
Deployment Sovereignty610Customer-hosted Atom runtimes provide locality, while platform management remains vendor-oriented.

From category to architecture

Put one customer-owned control layer in the AI request path.

Kosmoy covers the control and operations side of AI middleware — LLM, MCP and A2A mediation, identity, guardrails, cost, observability, evidence and containment — in your own Kubernetes, alongside the iPaaS you already run.

Where Boomi wins

Application and data integration. Boomi is an iPaaS and data platform. Kosmoy is not. If an agent needs reliable access to dozens of ERP, CRM, HR or data systems, Boomi addresses the integration work directly.

Reuse of existing enterprise plumbing. Boomi customers can turn governed APIs and existing processes into agent tools instead of rebuilding them in an AI-specific platform.

Agent workflow design. Agent Designer gives teams a dedicated environment for composing agentic workflows. Kosmoy's agent building is intentionally secondary to governance and runtime control.

Runtime locality for integrations. Boomi Atom runtimes can execute closer to customer systems, a meaningful deployment advantage over SaaS-only automation products.

Where Kosmoy wins

AI traffic control. Kosmoy's AI Gateway is designed around model, MCP and A2A traffic with provider abstraction, guardrails, routing, budgets and audit attribution. Boomi's centre of gravity is enterprise integration rather than multi-model AI traffic brokerage.

Production maturity of the AI control path. Boomi's public MCP Server connector was still marked Technology Preview on August 28, 2026, with documentation warning not to use preview features for production data. Kosmoy's LLM/MCP/A2A gateway is a production platform capability.

AI system of record and regulatory evidence. Kosmoy tracks ownership, risk and runtime evidence across AI systems and maps that state into EU AI Act / ISO 42001-aligned / NIST AI RMF workflows.

Autonomous execution containment. Action Capsule adds a kernel-enforced sandbox, egress restrictions, scoped credentials and kill switch — a different control layer from integration permissions.

Control-plane sovereignty. Kosmoy is customer-Kubernetes-only and air-gap capable. Boomi can place Atom runtimes in customer environments, but platform management is not the same no-vendor-control-plane architecture.

Running them together

Boomi and Kosmoy solve adjacent layers cleanly. Boomi can remain the integration fabric that exposes governed enterprise actions and data; Kosmoy can inventory the agents and AI systems invoking those capabilities, enforce model/tool policy, monitor spend and behaviour, and produce AI-specific evidence. This avoids duplicating integration work while keeping the AI control plane independent.

Questions buyers ask

Is Boomi AI middleware?

Yes in the broad architectural sense. Boomi combines enterprise integration and data capabilities with Agent Designer, API governance and emerging MCP/agent connectivity. It is strongest on the integration/data side of AI middleware.

Does Kosmoy replace Boomi?

No. Kosmoy is not an iPaaS and does not aim to replace Boomi's integration connectors or data workflows. It overlaps on AI governance and runtime controls and can sit above or alongside Boomi as an independent AI control plane.

Is Boomi MCP production-ready?

Boomi supports MCP in Agent Designer, but its public MCP Server connector documentation reviewed on August 28, 2026 labels that connector Technology Preview and warns against using preview functionality for production data. Buyers should verify current status during procurement.
